Iran’s demands—war reparations, guarantees against future aggression, cessation of hostilities including targeted assassinations, recognition of regional resistance groups, and sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz—reflect a shift from defensive negotiation to assertive bargaining. This indicates Iran’s attempt to leverage its geopolitical position, particularly control over a vital global energy chokepoint.

The closure and disruption of the Strait of Hormuz have triggered global energy shockwaves, with direct spillover effects on India’s economy. Indian industries—especially steel, aluminium, textiles, and consumer goods—are facing supply chain disruptions, rising freight costs, gas shortages, and delayed shipments.
